Light of Evening // a 16x20 oil painting
Light of Evening // a 16x20 oil painting
oil on stretched canvas
Each painting in this series comes from a line of the song All Creatures of our God and King, which beautifully celebrates the earth.
I especially love this line in the song with the idea that the light of evening could sing to us and teach us the lessons it has for us. All the color and warmth that comes at us each evening is filled with messages of love and praise and truth about who we are and why we are here if we are but willing to listen.
George Washington Carver put it beautifully when he said, “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every hour, if we would only tune in.”
I kept this painting a bit abstract, intentionally. I like how the loose brushstrokes and suggestion of water can take us anywhere we wish to be in the world. This is meant to be loose enough that you can fill in the blanks, but real enough that you can sense the sunset and the warmth of joy.
