On a recent trip to Israel I was struck by how different the climate is that what I’m used to in the seacoast of New Hampshire, ha! It was truly a desert. So hot and dusty. I nearly sweat to death walking the streets of Jerusalem and yet these bougainvilleas were thriving. The colors popped and the beauty of a living plant thriving at every turn was very symbolic to me. This particular scene painted here was just outside the wall at the Garden of Gethsemane.
