Each painting in this series comes from a line of the song All Creatures of our God and King, which beautifully celebrates the earth.

The full moon has always held such an ethereal beauty and I love the way it makes the world glow in monochromatic iridescent light.  I tried to keep the brushstrokes loose and painterly and leave a lot of texture in this painting.

I love that verse by Sarah Williams that says, 

“Though my soul may set in darkness, 

it will rise in perfect light; 

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.” 

During the night we can see into the universe more clearly. It leaves me with a sense of awe. What a cool metaphor with so much meaning as we meditate on our trials and the darker moments.
